Awesome little side trip destination. The lady at the service desk was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions.

The visitor center staff are welcoming and very friendly. If you love history, you must come visit..the golf cart tour of the fort is quite fun. We stayed in the campgrounds..tent..nice and clean..the campsites range from primitive to tent with water/electric available, as well as rv site. Campground has a children's play area, sand volley ball court, two nature trails, and restroom/shower facility. The area is remote, so be prepared. Very scenic place..did I mention they have Longhorn cattle too?

I highly recommend Fort Griffin for anyone wanting to get away for the weekend, or to Stargaze. Being able to see so many stars was breath taking and is the only reason why I decided to make the trip. Well worth the drive from DFW

I have been going to FG for nine years. Clean and a great place for local history. Jane in the office can tell you anything about the area and is a local treasure for the history of this region. Plus there is a plethora of books available about local history. Lot of cool, old things to see in the area and the office can hook you up.

Mr. Abercrombie at the office was very welcoming and proud of his work which is refreshing being as the big city is a different story.

Wonderful staff. Very accommodating for astronomers. Dark skys. Four 30/50 amp sites set off from the rest of the campground for stargazing. Interesting Texas history. About 15 miles from fuel, groceries, & dining in Albany.

I recently got back to Dallas after spending the night camping here. It was a spur of the moment road trip with friends and we really enjoyed it all.

Our favorite thing to do at FG is nothing! Just relax, listen to the coyotes, turkey, and Longhorns!
